Kwaku Boakye Gyamfi, a 22-year-old from Cape Coast, Ghana, has made history as the youngest medical doctor in the country. Recently, he completed his studies at the School of Medical Sciences at the University of Cape Coast (UCC).

Born in 2001, Kwaku Boakye Gyamfi is the second child and only son among four siblings. His father, Dr. Gyamfi, is a Business and Financial Advisor, while his mother works as a caterer. His parents are devoted members of The Church of Pentecost and originally hail from Sekyere Central in the Ashanti Region. However, they currently reside in Accra with their four children.

Kwaku’s journey towards greatness began in 2006 when he enrolled at Danem Royal Montessori School in Accra at the age of 5. He then attended Good Shepherd International School, Oregon International School, and Startrite Montessori School, all in Accra. In 2014, at 13, Kwaku completed his basic education with an impressive aggregate of 06. That same year, he gained admission to Prempeh College Senior High School to continue his secondary education.

Remarkably, Kwaku completed his secondary education in 2017 at 16, achieving an aggregate of 07. After successfully navigating a rigorous interview process, he gained admission into the UCC School of Medical Sciences later that same year, still at age 16.

Kwaku’s six-year journey through medical school brought immense pride to his family and friends when he graduated from the UCC School of Medical Sciences at 22 on September 7, 2023.

It is fascinating that Ghana has gained recognition for producing exceptionally talented doctors at a young age. Gyamfi’s accomplishment follows in the footsteps of two other medical doctors in Ghana, Erica Mensah and Vanessa Mensah-Kabu, who achieved the same remarkable feat. Erica Maame Abena Pomaa Ntiamoah Mensah became the youngest doctor in 2021 at age 21 after graduating from the Accra College of Medicine. Vanessa Aseye Mensah-Kabu, on the other hand, made history as Ghana’s youngest medical doctor at 22, a year prior to Erica Mensah’s achievement.
